Juanita had a drawer of tangled chains and a worry in the back of her mind every time she left town. The first sketches were pockets on a panel, pockets on a board, functional and forgettable. Then came a dress. Something about it clicked instantly, it hangs naturally, it belongs in a closet, and the silhouette gave jewelry exactly what jewelry needed: smaller pockets up top, larger ones at the hem.
She stitched the first prototype herself. Then she filed a patent.
